Kuching – Bako National Park
Breakfast at Hotel & check out Early morning, depart for 2D1N Bako National Park Trip - Bako is situated on a peninsula on the coast and upon reaching the Jetty (about 30 mins overland journey) at the Bako Village, we will take a boat ride for 25mins to reach the Park HQ. Along the way, there may be a chance to view crocodiles, sea and other migratory birds. Upon arrival at the Park, and after registration, proceed for a jingle trek with Tour Guide to search for wildlife and to explore, along the marked trails (please discuss with your guide on recommended trails to explore, subjective to personal fitness and mobility). Commonly spotted at the Park are the elusive proboscis monkey (found only in Borneo), long tailed macaques, silver leafed monkeys, wild boars, squirrels, monitor lizards and various species of birds. From mangroves to kerangas, cliff/ tropical and swamp vegetation can be found in Bako. Simple lunch & dinner will be arranged at the Canteen, and continue to explore the Park. During nightfall, enjoy a walk with torchlight before returning to lodging for overnight
Bako National Park – Kuching
Breakfast at Canteen With your Guide, proceed for another trail to look for migratory birds, langurs, proboscis monkeys. Simple Lunch at Canteen before returning to mainland. Transfer back for City Tour - Kuching, the Capital of Sarawak, is a cosmopolitan city and this is reflected in the faces on the street. Its city centre is well preserved with ornate Chinese Temples, The Astana, City Tower, and many fine examples of colonial style architecture, a beautiful waterfront and other places of interest include the famous landmark of the City, the New DUN, The Golden Bridge (Darul Hana), The Cat Monument, Market, Main Bazaar, China Town, Old State Mosque Evening, join in the Sarawak Sunset River Cruise (1730-1900) -A cruise along the Sarawak River is a relaxing way to enjoy the various phases of the city and retrace the trip James Brooke made when he first arrived in Sarawak. You will sail past the Waterfront, Brooke Dockyard, the 100 year old Malay Kampung, Fort Margherita, Astana, Square Tower and the Industrial Estate. As you sail toward the sea colourful fishing boats will appear in abound and nearby Bako after the Chinese and Malay villages are the houses and mansions of Kuching's affluent society. The constant changing of this living scenery gives you the best picture of the history and lifestyles in Kuching. After tour, transfer to Hotel for overnight.
Kuching – Semenggoh – Annah Rais Bidayuh Longhouse
Breakfast at hotel & check out Morning proceed to visit Semenggoh Nature Reserve / Orang Utan Rehabilitation Park - traveling overland (30 min) followed by a brief transfer via electric buggy through dipterocarp forest. Unlike in a Zoo, the Orang Utans are set free in a 653 hectare forest reserve. Here, young Orang Utans, who were either orphaned or rescued from captivity, are trained to survive in the wild. Upon arrival at the Sanctuary, you will be able to catch a glimpse of the Orang Utans during their feeding time. Spot their delicate nests watch their skillful movements at the tree tops and also their interesting behaviour during feeding time. The guide will also narrate to you the behaviour, emotion and characteristics of this special primate called Orang Utan, meaning 'Man of the Forest'. (Feed time @ 0900 hours) Thereafter, continue journey to Annah Rais Bidayuh Longhouse. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by your host in the longhouse, with the local-brewed rice-wine (known as “Tuak”) as a welcome drink. Short briefing session about Annah Rais longhouse & its history will be conducted when you are sipping of our local rice wine. Check-in to your guestroom in the longhouse, change to your light clothing & get ready for the jungle activities. Please be prepared to get wet in the jungle, as you will be passing through some clear & cool water streams. Jungle Trekking - Set off for the jungle trekking and you will be amazed with the wonder of natures in the tropical rainforest. You get to see the various flora & fauna. Our experienced longhouse guide will also show you the various herbs that we use traditionally for natural healing. Learn from the guide about the basic survival skills in the tropical rainforest After lunch, sit back & relax before setting up for the Waterfall trip. Here, you will be swimming & soaking yourself in the crystal clear cool water. You can even try natural waterfall massage. Return to the Longhouse. As soon as you get back to the longhouse, enjoy freshening up after the long day trip in the tropical rainforest. While waiting for dinner, our guide will bring you for a longhouse orientation tour with some history in it. Learn about the Bidayuhs lifestyles, heritage, culture and traditions. Dinner Time - served at the Ruai (common verandah) and get to enjoy local vegetables and dishes. Things to do after Dinner - You can either choose to rest after the long day activities or you may chit-chat with the host & the locals. You can also opt for guided night trekking through the small stream to spot some wild animals. This fun trip can be arranged with the local guide.
Overnight at Longhouse – Multi share lodging is basic and please be prepared for some slight discomfort
Bidayuh Longhouse – Kuching
Enjoy local breakfast and fresh fruits before transferring back to Kuching around 10.00 am. Lunch at local food eatery at own expense followed by a visit to Sarawak Cultural Village - Popularly known as the 'Living Museum', the Village is a showcase of a kaleidoscope of Sarawak's cultures and traditions. On arrival, you will explore the 7 authentic replicas of ethnic houses. Chinese Farm House, Malay's Stilted House, Melanau Tall House, Penan Hut as well as Longhouse of the Iban, Bidayuh and Orang Ulu. Displayed in each house are the many artifacts made by the individual dwellers. Demonstration of arts and crafts like beadwork, wood and bamboo carvings, "Pua" weaving and straw weaving can be seen while touring the Village. You will also be entertained with 45 minutes of the traditional dances of the various ethnic tribes of Sarawak at the Village theatre @ 1600-1645 hours.
Return to the city and stopover at the Cats Museum, founded in 1993, it is owned by the Kuching North City Hall (DBKU). There are 2000 exhibits, artifacts, statues about cats from all over the world. Proceed to a Kek Lapis Centre - the Sarawak layer cake is a well-loved local delicacy which is laborious and intricate to make but so delicious to eat. Visit this centre to see how these cakes are being made, layer by layer. Transfer to hotel for overnight
