Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival Paro – Thimphu

<p>(1.5 hrs drive)</p>
<p><br data-start="50" data-end="53" />Arrive in <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Paro</span></span>, where you will meet your driver and transfer to <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Thimphu</span></span>. Upon arrival, begin your sightseeing with a visit to <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Tashichho Dzong</span></span>, an impressive fortress that houses the King’s offices and the central monastic body. Continue to <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">National Memorial Chorten</span></span>, built in memory of the Third King of Bhutan and widely regarded as the “Father of Modern Bhutan.” After the tour, check in to your hotel and overnight in Thimphu.</p>

Day 2: Thimpu

<p>After breakfast, explore the cultural highlights of <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Thimphu</span></span>. Visit <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Changangkha Lhakhang</span></span>, the oldest temple in the city, followed by a stop at <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Buddha Dordenma</span></span> at Buddha Point, offering spectacular views of the valley. Continue to the <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Motithang Takin Preserve</span></span> to see Bhutan’s national animal, the takin. Later, visit the <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Bhutan Post Office Headquarters</span></span>, famous for its personalized stamps, and the <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Jungshi Handmade Paper Factory</span></span>, where traditional Bhutanese paper is produced from Daphne or Mulberry bark. Return to the hotel for an overnight stay in the city.</p>

Day 3: Thimpu - Punakha

<p><br data-start="1305" data-end="1308" />After an early breakfast, drive from <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Thimphu</span></span> to <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Punakha</span></span> via the scenic <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Dochula Pass</span></span> at 3,100 meters, where you will stop briefly for tea and enjoy panoramic Himalayan views. Upon arrival in Punakha, visit the magnificent <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Punakha Dzong</span></span>, known as the “Palace of Great Happiness” and considered one of the most beautiful dzongs in Bhutan. Continue to <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Chimi Lhakhang</span></span>, famously associated with the Divine Mad Monk. After sightseeing, check in to your hotel and overnight in Punakha.</p>

Day 4: Punakha - Paro

<p>(4.5 hrs drive)</p>
<p><br data-start="1973" data-end="1976" />After breakfast, drive back to <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Paro</span></span>. Upon arrival, visit <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Rinpung Dzong</span></span>, one of Bhutan’s most iconic fortresses known for its beautiful architecture and historical significance. After the visit, check in to your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure with an overnight stay in Paro.</p>

Day 5: Paro

<p>After an early breakfast, begin a memorable hike to <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Paro Taktsang</span></span>, Bhutan’s most famous monastery perched dramatically on a rocky cliff with a cascading waterfall nearby. The hike takes around two hours and offers breathtaking views along the way. Later, visit <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Kyichu Lhakhang</span></span>, one of the oldest temples in Bhutan and among the few remaining from the original 108 temples built by a Tibetan king. You will also have the opportunity to experience traditional Bhutanese culture with a visit to a local farmhouse before returning to the hotel for an overnight stay in Paro.</p>

Day 6: Depart Paro
